Couch Won’t Fit Through the Door?

We Can Help.

Don’t return the furniture yet. If your sofa, sectional, sleeper sofa, or other large piece won’t fit through a doorway, hallway, stairway, or elevator, send us a photo before assuming it needs to be taken apart.

With decades of hands-on furniture experience, we can help determine whether there’s another angle or approach worth trying first. If professional disassembly is necessary, Z Brothers can carefully disassemble the piece, move it through the tight space, and reassemble it where it belongs.

Before We Take Anything Apart

Not every furniture fit problem requires disassembly.

Before recommending service, we look at the furniture, the opening, and the path the piece needs to travel. Sometimes a different angle, removing a door, checking another opening, or taking a few specific measurements can solve the problem without taking the furniture apart.

If there’s something you can safely try yourself, we’ll tell you. We may ask for photos or measurements and walk you through what to check before scheduling a service call.

If disassembly really is necessary, we’ll explain why and what needs to be done.

Our goal is to solve the problem—not sell you a service you don’t need.

When Furniture Disassembly Is the Right Solution

When a piece truly cannot safely clear the available opening, professional disassembly can make it possible to move the furniture without forcing it through the space or damaging the piece, doorway, walls, or surrounding finishes.

New Sofa Won’t Fit

Your new sofa arrived, but the delivery team couldn’t get it through the doorway, hallway, stairway, or elevator. Disassembly may allow the piece to reach the room it was purchased for.

Sectionals & Sleeper Sofas

Large sectionals, sleeper sofas, and other complex upholstered pieces can present unique fit problems. We assess the construction before determining the safest approach.

Moving Out of a Tight Space

Furniture that made it into a home years ago doesn’t always come back out easily. We can disassemble and reassemble oversized pieces when access is too tight for a conventional move.

Stairs, Elevators & Narrow Hallways

Tight turns, narrow staircases, small elevators, and restrictive building layouts can make an otherwise normal piece of furniture impossible to maneuver intact.

Delivery Team Said It Won’t Fit?

Don’t Give Up on the Furniture Yet.

A failed delivery doesn’t necessarily mean the furniture has to go back.

We regularly help when a sofa, sectional, bed, or other oversized piece reaches the building but cannot make the final trip into the room. Before deciding what to do next, send us photos of the furniture and the problem area.

We can review what you’re dealing with and help determine the most practical next step—whether that means trying another approach or professionally disassembling and reassembling the piece.

How It Works

Start with a photo. We’ll help you figure out the right next step.

Send Us Photos of Your Furniture

Text us photos of the furniture and the doorway, stairway, elevator, or other area where it won’t fit. Include a few different angles if possible.

We Assess the Fit Problem

We’ll review the piece and access point and may ask for specific measurements. If we see something worth trying before disassembly, we’ll tell you.

Take it Apart If Needed

When professional disassembly is necessary, our technicians carefully take apart the piece as appropriate, move it through the restricted space, and reassemble it in the desired room.
